Entrapment range · CPSC Pub. 325
A professional inspection starts at $350.
The routine checks in between are yours.
The CPSC handbook expects frequent routine inspections done in-house, and a comprehensive audit bought from a certified inspector. This is for the frequent ones: the same checklist, on any phone, with photographs and a dated record at the end.
No card. No call.
The routine
Walk round, tap through, done before you're back inside.
- 01 — Check
- 25 pass/fail items straight from Pub. 325, on your phone, working with no signal. Anyone on staff can run it. See the checklist.
- 02 — Record
- A finding without a photograph is an opinion. Pictures attach to the item you were standing in front of, with the date they were taken.
- 03 — Prove
- Passes included, because §4.4 expects the completed checklist retained. This is the document you hand your insurer, your licensor, or a lawyer years later.
- 04 — Again
- Weekly, monthly, seasonally. The next one is booked when this one is signed, so the gap in the record never happens by accident.

What you end up holding
Evidence, not a tick sheet in a drawer.
- The completed Appendix A checklist with every item shown — passes included, because §4.4 wants the whole thing retained.
- Equipment identified by manufacturer, install year and age range.
- Measurements, and photographs against the findings they evidence.
- Hazards ranked Priority 1–5, each with the action and its urgency.
- Signed and dated.
